starlitstory:

some nights, i feel the air getting thinner and i breathe in sadness like its oxygen. feel it travel to my lungs and expand throughout my chest. swirl around my torso and slither to my feet. tickle its way up my spine and it builds a cocoon around my head. i am wrapped in it. swathed in it. completely bound up, my ribs tight and heavy like bowling balls, i cannot speak. i bite the tears back till my lips are bruised, i let them fall anyway. let the sorrow build up and consume me, then let go of every anchor weighing me to the ground until i am but a balloon, floating.
